Job Description
The University Technology Office (UTO) is looking for a highly motivated Department HR Specialist Sr. to coordinate the human resource functions related to UTO. You will be part of a highly efficient team that works collaboratively, while still allowing room for individual accomplishments. The Department HR Specialist Sr. will manage the employee life cycle including recruitment, onboarding, employee professional development, staffing, compliance and internal controls, management of unit personnel files, payroll management, and other functions designated by the unit administrator. Essential Duties
• Works closely with college administration and central OHR to develop and implement all departmental human resource activities to ensure compliance with college and university policies, practices and regulations.
• Responsible for the payroll management, resolves payroll discrepancies and works as a liaison between Business Center and OHR to reach a solution.
• Coordinates and manages personnel searches, applicant evaluation and hiring, and the unit's annual evaluation process with an explicit focus on ensuring diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging for all members of the UTO family.
• Manages human resource and payroll quality control for department or unit satellite offices.
• Coordinates all staff visa application and renewal processes.
• Determines budgetary impact of salary actions and work closely with the financial team to review account expenditure requests and obtain expenditure approvals in accordance with established financial guidelines and policies.
• Ensures maintenance of appropriate personnel records based on OHR, state and federal guidelines.
• Works closely with college administration and central OHR Benefits office to coordinate staff and student benefit issues.
• Participates in a variety of departmental, college, and university-wide initiatives and meetings to represent UTO's interests in the area of human resources and to ensure an integrative/collaborative support of college and university interests.
• Performs other duties as assigned to ensure the continuity of department operations and to meet customer service needs.
• Takes responsibility for fostering culture, advancing our values, and championing engagement in all its forms -- collaborating across our teams as well as participating in UTO/ASU events and programs.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND five (5) years of related administrative experience, OR, Nine (9) years of related administrative experience, OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

• Evidence of a SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.

Working Environment
• Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse (75%); required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work (10%).
• Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds (5%).
• Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
• Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
• Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals.;
• Supervises designated employees that include hiring, training, evaluations, disciplinary actions and scheduling.
• This position reports to the department administrator.
