Salary: $57,836.00 - $60,836.00

Motlow State is located in the beautiful rolling hills of middle Tennessee and has four main campuses that serve students from eleven counties. General Function:
This position oversees the day to day operations of the Medical Laboratory Technology Program. Ensures compliance with the Tennessee Medical Laboratory Board, SACSCOC, and NAACLS statutes, rules and standards. This position also provides high quality effective instruction in accordance with the catalog description and the approved course syllabus; Facilitates student learning, and performs evaluations of student learning for all assigned classes, using each course's standard course outline as a guide; Advises and mentors students about academic and career goals.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree earned from a regionally accredited institution as Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist with ASCP-BOC U.S. generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist. Three (3) years teaching experience. Knowledge of education methods and administration as well as current NAACLS accreditation procedures and certification procedures

Preferred Qualifications:
Doctoral degree earned from a regionally accredited institution as Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist with ASCP-BOC U.S. generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist. Three (3) years teaching experience. Knowledge of education methods and administration as well as current NAACLS accreditation procedures and certification procedures

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Oversee and be responsible for the organization, administration, instruction, program evaluation, continuous quality improvement, curriculum planning and development, directing other program faculty/staff, maintain compliance with Tennessee Medical Laboratory Board, maintaining NAACLS accreditation and general effectiveness of the program; Participate in budget preparation; Coordinate clinical laboratory experience
• Teach courses as assigned in accordance with the catalog description and the approved course syllabus; Travel to multiple campuses as assigned. Maintain student-instructor ratio. Teach a 9-hour load per semester (Fall and Spring); Teach 7-hour load in summer
• Advise and mentor students about academic and career goals
• Collaborate collegially with faculty, dean, and academic leadership about curricular and programmatic issues and needs
• Collaborate collegially with faculty, administration and staff to support the students, strategic plan, goals and business operations of the college; Work collegially as part of both discipline-specific and multidisciplinary teams
• Stay abreast of current developments in the teaching discipline and assist in keeping instructional resources current
• Support curricular and co-curricular activities within the college; Participate in graduation exercises
• Post and maintain office hours which provide adequate time for academic advisement with students; out-of-class meetings with students and colleagues; and faculty, division, and departmental meetings
• Respond promptly to the Dean’s requests, submit all requested paperwork timely and completely and serve on college committees
• Perform all duties in accordance with both TBR and MSCC policies
• Engage in a minimum of 36 hours of documented continuing professional development every three years
• Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
• Strong computer skills, to include college database (Banner) management, word processing, creating spreadsheets, e-mail, and the internet
• Knowledge of confidentiality statutes and policies as they apply to FERPA
• Ability to effectively communicate, both in writing and verbally, with students, fellow employees, college administrators, and other stakeholders
• Knowledge of education methods and administration as well as current NAACLS accreditation procedures and certification procedures
