The Froedtert and Medical College of Wisconsin (F&MCW) Cancer Center (CC) is seeking applications for Director of the Comprehensive Lung Cancer Program. The successful physician scientist candidate will be expected to develop, implement and lead strategic growth of the Lung Cancer Research Program and the multidisciplinary Lung Cancer Clinical Program. This will include developing innovative, coordinated patient care programs across the spectrum of lung diseases and integrating these with the robust clinical and translational research initiatives of the Cancer Center. In addition to an Endowed Chair, this position comes with a competitive start-up package. Candidates with a strong research and clinical background in Surgical Oncology, Radiation Oncology or Medical Oncology are encouraged to apply.
The MCW CC is simultaneously investing $100M in five parallel research initiatives that include Immuno-Oncology, Metabolomics, Structural & Chemical Biology, Precision Oncology, and Community-driven Research. This endowed cancer center leadership position will help build these major cross-disciplinary research initiatives and integrate them with the Comprehensive Lung Cancer Program. The Comprehensive Lung Cancer Program director will also assume a leadership role at the MCW CC. Cancer is the top strategic priority of F&MCW. F&MCW is the inpatient and outpatient market share leader in cancer care in our catchment area of Eastern Wisconsin. The Cancer Service Line delivers high-quality cancer care to over 5,000 unique new patients annually and follow-up care. Approximately 450 new unique patients with lung cancer are seen annually at the academic cancer center and another 175 patients are seen at other network sites. More than 20,000 patient visits occur annually in the lung program across all sites. Interdisciplinary clinical and research services include interventional pulmonology, a radiology supported Center for Imaging Research, a lung cancer screening program with behavioral medicine research in smoking cessation, a developing cancer prevention program, genetic counseling and robust supportive care and social services. The director of the Comprehensive Lung Cancer Program is expected to significantly expand the lung cancer clinical trial portfolio, building on the existing foundation of a core multidisciplinary team including a radiation oncology department recognized nationally for innovation and research, dedicated thoracic surgeons and medical oncologists, a precision oncology clinic, an early phase unit and an expanding clinical trials office.
Applicants must have a MD, MD/PhD or equivalent degree, hold advanced associate or full professor rank, and have accomplishments in research, graduate-level teaching, and scholarship commensurate with an endowed chair.
