Job Description
Associate Director, Business Development
Position Summary:

The Associate Director, Business Development will be responsible for identifying, developing, and deepening mutually beneficial, revenue generating relationships with external stakeholders, both domestically and internationally, that are closely aligned within the field of functional medicine. The Associate Director, Business Development will evaluate new opportunities against the organization’s strategic priorities and leverage existing partnerships by working closely with the internal relationship management team members and cross-departmentally to ensure the execution of new partnerships that meet key performance indicators. This role will support and engage with the Executive Team’s priorities around diversifying organizational revenue streams.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in business, public health, communications or related fields required, with Master’s degree preferred; Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum requirements.
• 5 years’ experience in leadership positions in nonprofit sector that includes cross functional operations.
• 5 years’ experience in business development, fundraising; or leadership positions in nonprofit sector.
• 7 years’ experience in identifying, cultivating, and securing partnerships required.
• 5 years’ experience in identifying and developing funding proposals and knowledge of funding strategies in nonprofit settings required.
• Experience in membership-based organizations preferred.
• Thorough understanding of business development strategies
• Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Strong collaboration and relationship management skills with ability to work effectively with all levels within the organization and externally; Must be able to collaborate to develop procedures and plans to make relevant work decisions.
• Interpersonal skills: Includes attitude, behavior, and problem-solving mindset that enable positive responses to diverse internal and external stakeholders’ needs and expectations.
• Must be able to enact skillful dialogue, discussion, and inquiry, and be able to communicate large amounts of information into concise, actionable language over the phone, in person, and via electronic media – and across multiple geographical locations.
• Adaptability: Includes teamwork and flexibility needed to fulfill job responsibilities; must be capable of adapting to changes in work environment and accepting supervisory feedback.
• Must be able to work independently and to inquire for clarification as appropriate.
• Must be able to make decisions that may have an impact across multiple departments and outside IFM.
• Must have high level proficiency with MS Office Suite.
• Must be able to receive guidance and oversight from Director, Strategic Partnerships & Innovation
