Job Description
Director, BD and Strategy
This is an exciting role in the Business Development group that extends across pharmaceutical, neurotech and digital health opportunities and strategy. The Director BD and Strategy executes on business development projects and key strategy projects supporting Otsuka's future portfolio in pharmaceuticals, neurotech and digital science / analytics. In this role they work to evaluate and present opportunities, lead the diligence process and assist with execution deliverable.

Job Description
Work with the Digital Business Unit to lead and support diligence needs for digital Business development opportunities. Expected to be the key point of contact with target companies during the Diligence and Transaction of Digital opportunities.
Cross-functional diligence lead for opportunities identified as being of interest and moved to stage 2 and beyond in the BD process by Otsuka's global pharma BD group
Identify external opportunities in line with Otsuka's BD strategy, as relevant
Work closely with other Global Business Development (GBD) members as well as the relevant BUs/Corporate functions (e.g, Finance, Legal, Operations) on diligence activities
Lead on key strategy projects for the Head of Business Development while working closely with other colleagues within the Business Development team
Develops and maintains key relationships across a broad sphere of influence, both internally and externally.
Occasionally requested to manage special projects for Head of Business Development and other key stakeholders.

Qualifications

Knowledge/ Experience and Skills:
A minimum of 8 years professional work experience with at least 4 years in pharmaceutical, biotech or digital health business development roles
Demonstrated ability to partner with executive leadership required
Understanding and interest in digital health is required
Understanding of scientific principles and the drug development process is ideal
Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal skills, and creativity in applying analytical frameworks to business issues are critical
Must be able to develop a comprehensive understanding of disparate complex and ambiguous situations and clearly frame the issues and questions presented
Experience working on complex organizational and portfolio strategy projects
Excellent transactional, financial, business, and management expertise, as well as a strong capability and knowledge of early- and late-stage transactions and at least a high-level understanding of the science and technologies involved
Proven record of leading, negotiating & executing a variety of deals by phase and degrees of complexity
Experience working with complex product and portfolio strategy projects to help move organizations in the right direction on key issues and topics
Creative solution mindset in developing deals
Project team experience within a highly-matrixed organization is required
Some travel (~< 25%) will be required

Educational Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree is required; an advanced degree in business or law is a plus
